Synopsis
Unbalanced is a two-act play centered around a real-life bank robbery in small-town Ontario in 1951. We follow the bank manager, secretary, and tellers as they go about an average work day serving customers in the Bradford branch of the Bank of Commerce, just one hour north of Toronto. Average, that is, except that a major client has died and his widow takes the bank manager to task over missing money. An undercurrent of illicit affairs, financial shenanigans, unbridled ambition and lover's jealousy emerges as the bank manager slowly loses his grip on the professional façade. When three armed men, members of the infamous Bond Gang, storm the bank, rash decisions forever change the face of the town. Twenty years later, key players return to the scene on the anniversary of the robbery, causing old emotions to resurface, tensions to rise and accusations to fly.
